Overhead console with CD storage, sunglasses storage, Homelink, and space for a couple aftermarket gauges:
(taken from a late '90s Chevy Suburban)

Still to do:
-Redo the gray headliner fabric on the console. Same fabric will be used for the console as the headliner.
-Get custom plate for the old HVAC controls hole, made to hold either 2 aftermarket gauges or a SAFC2 controller.

Re: PurdueGuy's '99 SC2 project car

Started doing a black fabric wrap on the plastic trim above the beltline.

1st piece done (trim piece on B-pillar part of 3rd door)

Installed:

Will redo the headliner as well, as soon as I get the LeSabre sun visors in.

Headliner material:
(black matches fabric on trim above, but headliner material has a lined pattern. Not as shiny as it looks in this pic)

I really like how you added the cd area with the gauges (have you put those in yet?)
are you going to be keeping it the gold color, or changing it to black like the lining you put in.
anyways, any more recent additions done to it?

Re: PurdueGuy's '99 SC2 project car

no gauges yet, still waiting on the plate, and money to buy gauges. lol I may end up making a temporary filler plate out of plastic sometime, just to close the hole.

I wouldn't have paid that much for a '97, but it'll probably still be a good car, so don't keep yourself awake at night over it.

Added:
Groundpounder (need to pull it back out & press the bushing in better)

Leather e-brake handle

floormats (got them & the e-brake handle for $6, they're better than the uber cheap floormats I had. lol)

Also, pictures of stuff that was already on the car:

Rear disk swap

MOS short shifter (and a ghetto plate I made since my stock boot was junk and wouldn't fit with the shifter anyway)

Re: PurdueGuy's '99 SC2 project car

Went to pick up a couple bolts at the junkyard yesterday, and low & behold, they had a '99 SC2 with black interior in the yard. Unfortunately, this yard is pretty pricey usually, so I wasn't sure it would be worth it to buy, but I went ahead & got it for about $265 with tax. Got:

-front and rear seats
-door panels (including 3rd door)
-door trim
-rear seat trim pieces
-carpet
-floormats
-full dash assembly
-rear deck cover

The plan is to gut the SC2, then put in just the carpet, driver's seat, and dash at first. Then I will put in one piece at a time, and let the groundpounder tell me where the squeeks & rattles are, and try to reduce or eliminate most of them.

I still hate you for having that black interior. I want to do it the hard way and re vinyl wrap everything. Except the seats... I might try to eventually do a leather conversion on the rear and do racing seats up front.

Well, as kind of a reply and an update:

I've given up on doing the fabric wrap of the trim above the beltline. The pieces I had done had issues with glue letting loose (granted, it was the permatex stuff, not the good 3M stuff), fading (I didn't think to treat the fabric, so that might've been avoidable), and had had to make patches for some spots that I just couldn't stretch the fabric enough to get it to lay down (maybe could've remedied this by starting to lay the fabric from a different starting point, as well as choosing a more stretchy fabric).

Instead I will be spraying those pieces in plastidip. I have already done the front cupholders and the driver's side door panel pull handle. It gives a nice grippy texture and looks great. On the door pull, it shut up all the cheap sounding, annoying squeeks that happened any time you pushed, pulled, grabbed the handle. I'm hoping the plastidip will get rid of some minor rattles from some other pieces as well.

Door pull handle:

I have re-done the headliner in the black fabric shown in one of the posts up further in this thread. It's not perfect, and I will likely redo it someday, but it is faaaaaar better than the saggy tan headliner that was in the car. I will be looking for an upholstery shop to redo my sun visors in the same fabric - that's a task I choose not to take on myself. I have dropped the project of putting LeSabre sun visors in my car, as while I was measuring and figuring out the alignment of the two mounting points this past week, I discovered a major downside of the slightly increased size of the visors - I couldn't turn them to the side window of the car without them smacking me in the face. lol I would have to lean waaay back, so sadly, they're just not practical. I may still keep an eye out for better visors to fit to the car as I go junkyarding (probably come spring), but for now I'm sticking with the stockers.

I'll try to get the trim pieces done this week and get some pictures up.

Plastidip looks awesome...any more info?

You should be eliminating the rattles on the DD, the track car should THRIVE on rattles!

Plastidip thread

Original plastidip thread on NASIOC

Basically, you get the rattlecan plastidip, clean what you're gonna spray, and spray it. I did 6 layers on the handle for durability, on trim I'll rarely touch I'll only use 2 coats. The stuff is very forgiving and easy to get right.

The SC2 is both my DD & track car. I do use the SC1 sometimes, but it's pretty much Em's car. Then I have the 'burban for a backup vehicle. Plus right now I have the '96 SL2 that's drivable, which actually has been functioning as my DD while I play with my interior. The '96 has a mildly built engine & 6-puck in it that will be pulled, tweeked, and put into the SC2 eventually - I just have to get a stock engine ready to put back into the SL2 to sell it. Way too nice of a car to just yank the engine out of & part out.
