    Microsquirt

Just curious, but why couldn't we use the Microsquirt ECU on our cars? I am not planning on swapping anything, but I just saw where people were using these on their LS engines and wondered why I didn't try to go with the smaller Microsquirt for about the same price.

Less input/outputs. Requires external coil driver. But otherwise would work just fine.

Bunch of the sloppy mechanics dudes use microsquirt for turbo LSx applications with good success. It's been done enough now that you'd have a pretty good base from someone. I want to say it didn't have a MAP sensor built in, maybe the new ones do?

    No MAP
Can't drive "dumb" coils like ours
    High impedance injectors only

A microsquirt would work fine with LS coils, high IMP injectors and a 3bar.

It can drive the obd1 ICM.

With a driver, but not off the board directly.

The obd1 ICM is logic driven. You should be able to run the microsquirt directly to it. All it needs is a square wave pulse, it fires on the falling edge.

We will have to play around with it, but I seem to recall that the addition of some digital logic would be required to fire our coils with the Microsquirt, but the 'squirt could fire LS coils directly, so I opted for LS coils.

Im guessing your running a crank trigger and COP's?

Your the one that's restoring that old shop truck right?

I was going to use the CPS and coil near plug, but that has been currently shelved while I work on other BS car projects. I chose the microsquirt because of size, options and cost.

I dont have a shop truck restoration project going, but I am restoring my Tahoe. Kinda the same thing, except not really
