Back to the '95

by Xyla95 on 03-16-2013 at 12:28 PM
So yesterday we made some progress on the '95.
The interior has been removed from the dash to the back seat, carpet to headliner. The headliner is going to get fresh headliner kit from stockinteriors.com. The floor pan is going to get some sound damper pads from McMaster Carr (PN: 9709T39) to reduce vibration and sound transmission.
The wiring from the UHJB back into the cabin, through the dash, and to the fuse panel in the car has been removed. This will all be transplanted

Long time over due update.

I bought a car from a member on this forum. Its a 1996 Black SC2, it was a special edition car in 1996, black non metallic paint, red pinstripe, beige perforated leather seats, and teardrop2s.

Xylaphobe's 95 - Cursed

by Xyla95 on 11-29-2011 at 07:48 PM
Well this car is cursed, I'm sure of it now.
see: http://www.sixthsphere.com/forum/sho...ition-1995-SC2

After exhausting all options i was convinced that it was simply a weak engine, so we swapped the engine in from my beater shell that donated all its good parts. It seemed to be running okay. Then one night it suddenly started spitting a lot of smoke out the tailpipe. I have yet to inspect the beast to determine what has failed but I assume that another lean spike caused detonation

Xylaphobe's 95 - Cruising

by Xyla95 on 10-19-2010 at 03:52 PM
The oil leak has been repaired, turns out it was a small rust pinhole in my oil pan, the metal felt really thin all around it so it ended up getting replaced with a used but solid pan.
now has ~400mi on the rebuild engine and its running great! I plan on taking a ride out to buffalow this weekend to meet up with the other STC NY guys for some awesome go cart racing.

Xylaphobe's '95 - Roadworthy

by Xyla95 on 10-11-2010 at 01:53 PM
Well this is the first 'new' entry in the now blog build log.

The car is on the road and driving.
Unfortunately its leaking oil from somewhere in or around the bell housing, so rear main, oil galley plug, or oil pan. Its not too bad of a leak, and my machinist told me to drive it a bit more before worrying too much about it. For now I'm riding in true Saturn style, with oil in the car at all times and checking all the damn time.
