Re: The new DD: 94 SW2

i never used it (the rear wiper) it was gone in no time. Find a nice plug like the vader wagon and your set. (take out the tank and lines too, for cleanliness)

This should be quite the project! Can't wait to see the results.

Re: The new DD: 94 SW2

I liked having the rear wiper on my wagon.
The rear window collects dust pretty quick, more so than rain or anything, and the wiper and sprayer do a good job of cleaning it.

Re: The new DD: 94 SW2

I just took the wiper off for now, I'll see how it is once I start driving it. I keep my windows clean so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

As far as updates go I got my black carpet switched over last night along with the front seats. I ran into a few things with the back seats. It looks like the seat backs are slightly different so i'm probably going to have to swap material there, also the bottom attaches slightly different with a clip so I need to yank that off of the 94's and swap it onto the 98 seat. For the front seatbelts I was able to remove the gay auto belts and swap in the full manual seatbelts. Need to stop by the JY to find some interior panels now along with a back sidemarker since that and the fronts were smashed out (already ordered clear fronts).

Re: The new DD: 94 SW2

I converted to manual belts in my SL2. When it had an interior I had to drill a new hole in the B-pillar trim as the mounting point for the belt is slightly higher than in the 95's. The belt will cover up the old hole.

Re: The new DD: 94 SW2

Do either of you guys have pics of the seatbelt swap? I may need to do that to the 94 if the belts ever give me shit. I was under the impression that the holes to mount seatbelts on the B pillar didn't exist on cars with the auto belts.

yeh, i just went to the yard and pulled some 95 upper pillars because yes, there are no holes in the 94 and under pillars. I had to cut out some sheet metal where the belt sets in at the bottom. Otherwise they just bolt in.

Really... what sheet metal? I don't remember doing that.

Re: The new DD: 94 SW2

it's on the pillar going up where the belt mechanism sits. The belt is rolled up below it, and that fits fine, but the other part doesn't quite fit without shaving some stuff off for whatever reason.

Re: The new DD: 94 SW2

I didn't have to do any cutting at all to put the manual seat belts in my 94 SL2. I did however drill and tap holes for the upper mounts as I didn't want to have two holes in the trim and wanted the mount in the same location as in the 95+ cars. Yes, I know it is OCD but I did it The metal is quite thick in those columns and the bolts snugged in extremely tightly.

    This sounds extremely unsafe.

For racing belts they generally require a 3" washer minimum if you are mounting to sheetmetal..

Hmmm maybe I will think about moving over to the original mount positions then. They seem pretty well secured and the stock mounting locations are merely welded into the sheet metal, but it may be better to be safe than sorry I guess. I'll look into it.

Now is that a belt reel from your 2nd gen sedan or from a 95?

They are a little different, I think. Doesn't the 96+ have the adjustable height shoulder pivot?

yes they do, but I'm not swapping that over even though I think it is a great add on. I was looking at it and I didn't think it would work with the 94 pillars anyway, besides that I'd have to cut a big slot in the pillar to make it be able to move at all.

Yeah I wouldn't mess with swapping that slide thing over either, I was just confirming that the belts are different. The buckles are different too between the 95 and 96+ belts, I think.

    I want a wagon too
