Depends what you are after, but you really have to try to have powertrain carnage like what's seen in this thread.

I wasn't trying when my diff pin decided it wanted to leave. Just cruising at 60. Granted it was the week after a good snowfall and I was doing a lot of one wheel spins trying to get up a hill, but you get the idea. Sometimes shit happens that's not really within your control. But if (and when) you do break, at least make it good and get lots of pictures. Don't do anything half-way.
    Peace
    Tim

    Re: Carnage pics thread.

I don't know how you people do this stuff. Beyond a few snapped off bolts from idiot previous owners over-torquing or cross threading them, and a few stubborn wheel bearing hubs here and there, my crap always just works without exploding.

I do explode sockets and bend wrenches, though. (And not just the cheap ones, either.)

Broken 1st gear synchro. After doing rod ends on my shifter cables I dont think it was quite engaging 100%. Add a year of boost and autox...

That's pretty much from jamming the gears. I have done that many times to 2nd and 3rd gear.

I'll be replacing the clutch on my 02 daily SL1 for this reason. seems fine now, but before, it was really hard to get into 1st or 2nd gear when at a stop light. fine if I slipped it in while still rolling, and fine if the engine is off. put two and two together, thinkin clutch isn't disengaging - ie. the fingers on the pressure plate are probably flattened.

Used a cut piece of wire coat hanger and used the test hole. There should be 1/2in (13mm) of travel between clutch pedal in and clutch pedal out. If you get less movement then the hydraulics are not pressing the clutch fork in enough. You will need two people to do the test.
