Picked up the MLS this morning. I need to unwrap it tonight and start caressing it tenderly. Still need valve springs, still need to clean the pan and get the pipe thing mocked up.

Also, when I blew the hell out of the HG, i managed to blow part of the valve cover gasket out. I need to find an aluminum valve cover and get some PCV bungs welded in there to help evacuate that pressure. It may be time to get that Miller Multimatic 220 so I can start welding aluminum. I'll see if some Weld shops in Indy carry those in stock.

    ***Edit***
On second thought, I'm gonna order it online as many places don't charge sales tax which will save me like 300 bucks.
Time to dust off the credit card.

Well google lied. It indicated that Baker's Gas.com didn't have tax, but it did and I wasn't surprised. I pulled the trigger this morning and will hopefully have the welder set up by the end of the month.

Goals for this weekend are to figure out if I goofed on the WBO2 wiring causing it to not function properly. Once that is fixed, I'll bring the turd over to the BMV to get titled next week.

The new welder came in. It's a pretty shade of blue. Need to get some welding rods to weld some AL.
I also didn't do any of the things I said I was gonna do this past weekend, but I did hit 150mph on the CBR for the first time this season.

I'll order a bunch of the oil fittings tonight.

Managed to solder on the knock module onto one of my MS3's. I need to find a knock sensor and connector to wire up to test it out. Hopefully that will happen this weekend. Hopefully it works the first time.

Ordered an M10 to M8 step stud to mount the disc type knock sensor onto the old style knock sensor boss, ordered a c-clamp valve compressor tool since I cant use my lisle tool to install the springs with the bum hand, and ordered the weld in oil pan fitting for the drain hose. Im not gonna deal with replacing my existing oil feed/drain hoses.

The only thing I need to not forget about is the TCC oil pressure mod. Otherwise I'd like to throw this bitch together next week and start installing it.

Installed the stiff valve springs using the C-clamp tool. I found the baggie with my head studs, but only two of the nuts were with it...so now I need to search around for where ever I left those. If I can find those tonight I'll install the head and timing junk. Still need to work on the oil pump mod and the oil pan fitting.

The spring wire diameter is thicker and the spring height shorter on the '98 springs.

I have the specs myself, i was just curious if you had measured them. All our used parts are getting up there in age.

I checked two and they were close to that measurement. They have 130k on them base on the odometer reading.

I have no idea where 8/10 of the ARP stud nuts went, but they are MIA...the studs and washers were all in the same baggie.

Hopefully I can call ARP up and get a PN for some replacement nuts so I dont need to order a new stud kit.

Valve springs don't age, they fatigue from use. Unless rust is a factor.

When I built the latest engine for my Redline I had to track down some ARP nuts, I think they’re on eBay?

I ordered some new ones on Amazon after checking the PN with ARP. Much cheaper than buying another kit. I also ended up finding the other 8 in a tattered nitrile glove that was on a messy table in the barn. Theyre slightly rusty, but now I have extras.

The MLS gasket and head have been installed. Still need to install cams and timing junk. Pulled a 2nd gen TCC out of my scrap pile to check out the Bypass valve on that sometime this week.

Supposedly there are 2 sizes of bypass valves. The TCCs I have had the large valve with a 10mm opening. The smaller one has an 8mm opening.
