I have that one too. I always leave it in since the angle of my port doesn't interfere with anything.

Paid. Free was only installed long enough to confirm it worked with the dongle. Well worth the 5 bucks. And I don't say that about software very often at all.

This is the auction I got mine from.

But, like I said, I have not been able to get it to work on either my '98 SL or my '07 ION Redline

Yeah, I've used mine on the saturn, a 98 dodge minivan, an 07 dodge minivan, an 06 toyota sienna, a 5.4 powered excursion of unknown year, a 98-ish dodge pickup, a 2014 hyundai genesis, and probably some others I'm forgetting.

I finally dug out the CD that they shipped with it, since the label that was on it turned into a shrinky-dink and fell off a few years ago and therefore I couldn't remember what it said.. it's branded as 'Interfuse', and I know it's an ELM327 Bluetooth OBDII dongle. Their ebay store currently only has wifi obd2 adapters, but googling finds some elsewhere.

As a matter of fact, I am fairly certain it was this one for $12.95: http://interfusellc.com/product/elm3...anner-adapter/ They're out of Wisconsin, if that matters to you.

I tried it again on both our OBD2 Saturns with my new phone, same behavior. I will have to order a new pair.

I don't think we have gotten confirmation of one of the new small format ELM327 working on a 2gen S series, have we? Looks like the older large version is confirmed to work.

I'm comfortable saying the two I got are just limited capability with some half assed firmware or something. Again I really would prefer the small format for space reasons.

    I summon, The Thread Necromancer!
    *waves phone around*

I just ordered the BAFX one as suggested above, really really want to have this working for my upcoming Dragon trip. Will report back on Saturday if it works on the SL of DOOM.

    Thanks!

I still don't like the size of this thing, but it does not get in the way of in or egress.

Do you leave yours plugged in or remove it? I don't need torque to drive to work, but plugging and unplugging all the time sounds like a great way to kill the OBD port.

I usually just leave it plugged in now. But for the first few years I had it, I unplugged it when done and stuffed it in the glove box. Either way, I don't think it will matter too much.

In all honesty, it probably is better for the obd2 port itself to leave it unplugged when not in use - the 'pins' then aren't being bent back from the resting position all the time, in conjunction with heat cycling during the warm part of the year (which is 10-11 months of the year here).

I was always worried about bending one of the pins on the dongle when plugging it in. Not that it's a bunch of money, but I need it when I need it, and wouldn't want to have to wait for another one to show up.

I keep one in the glovebox of each vehicle now. If I find myself needing it it's there.
