Started and moved the D. Realized my wheel base is wider than the "floor" i put down in the shed so i need to fix that before the car can go in. My brother in law blocked in my shed, again. Maybe he'll get the hint this time...

It has been a while since i posted anything. the car has been off the road for a while

I "tag and titled" my 96 SC2 a few weeks ago as a historic in MD (previously NYS and last time it was on the road was 3 or 4 years ago). So, started the old girl for the first time in over a year the other day... drove it around the block... the list of things wrong with it is crazy long now. oops.

T Stat says its always at middle of the gauge, doesn't move from there.... radiator fan always on.
Front brakes need to be replaced
something in the front passenger suspension/wheel hub area is fubar'd
all fluids desperately need a change
most likely need to replace most of the mounts and bushings as well

all this from about a 3 minute drive...

hhhmmm . not sure if worth it or better to scrap it haha

Took out Spark plugs to check gap and how clean they are. First off the plugs seems loose when removing , is this normal over time? ( 1 year to date) 2 plugs were closed more than normal reset all gaps cleaned plugs and installed. runs smoother or is it a placebo effect? in any case i feel better . Also washed and waxed the SC1, tree piss and crab apple juice stained the car. I can't get used to the new head light assemblies
    what a difference.

The plugs coming loose is not normal. Make sure you torque them correctly when you pit them back in.

What did you do to your car today?

The parts to fix my mega squirt came in today. C17 on the v3 board has burnt up on me twice in the 9 years I have had that stupid thing. Last time was over 3 years ago and it has been on a shelf since. I bought the usb mod board also so I can use my new laptops and my android head unit. . The ms is just temporary until I can buy the tec2. Then the ms will go into my truck.

Ordering pipe to finish the manifold and I should be finally have a turbocharged wagon. The motor now has 3100 miles on it and 700 on the clutch. By the time I finish the manifold it will be almost double that. (3 weeks Iím guessing).

The Saab should also be back up and running by that time also. That has to be done before September. Almost all the parts I need I have actually found locally so that helps.

    I don't remember the spec.
They should have the crush washer/gasket on them too.

Thanks, 20 footpounds is what my haynes says.

put them in yesterday nice and snug, broke out the torque wrench this morning wow at least 2 turns each before hitting 20. well it is done now, again thanks for the heads up on torque specs.

Went to Autozone and picked up some Techron Complete fuel system cleaner 12oz, now on sale 2 for $8.99
    20oz is going for $13.98

Trip meter is 50 miles so far on full tank used about 1/8th of a tank looks like my MPG went up since replacing the thermostat about 10MPG. (33mpg now , was about 24mpg) was getting about 250 miles per tank before.

gonna drive it til next payday (8/4) and fill it to get the good numbers

Drove it to work today. This is after the the rear disc brake conversion. It took longer than I wanted because the old hoses did not want to let the brake lines go. I ended up putting new nickel-copper brake lines in along with Heins 1/2" spacers. I really like the way everything turned out in the end.

Took a drive to Wausau ,WI , it's about 56 miles north of me and halfway there I realized I never took this car any further than 7 miles from home, round trip to work is only 5. on the way there the wind was horrible blowing hard on this little sc1. Doing 70 mph on the hwy. On the way back zero wind and running at 78 mph, no hiccups car ran great.

Moved the SL2 for the first time in a year.
Started it for the first time in about as long a couple weeks ago but the tires were flat and I didn't feel like pulling my compressor out.

Aired the tires up today and found the two flats both have actual issues rather than slow leaks. Went to push the car only to find a brake was frozen. Jump started it w/o the battery connected no problem but found the brake was REALLY frozen. Dragged the driver rear ~20ft.

Needed the space to comfortably work on my Astra.
Replacing lower control arms, Front struts, rear shocks, front wheel bearings, springs all the way around, and front brakes (pads and rotors since I have the parts and will have them off anyway)

Ordered new O2 sensors for the sedan, thinking I want to do the T-stat as well since I forgot to order one when I rebuilt my engine. Currently getting 23ish mpg in the city . Hoping to get me back into the high 20ís.

I was getting about the same before I parked mine. I eventually did a compression test and 1 cylinder was crap. I know you just rebuilt your motor, but have you checked your compression ?

Engine coolant Temp Sensor, Thermostat, MAP, O2 all play a big part in the MPG game. I have changed all but the O2 and my MPG went up from about 23mpg to about 33mpg. may get the O2 as well, Clean the EGR too.
