Yeah, I think its time you find a long travel rally suspension and adapt. Subaru guys are getting like 10-14" of travel vs. 6-7" stock.

Its something I want to do on the Bentra but we are cheap.

    Found this interesting build: http://offroadsubaru.com/2001-subaru...-wandering-foz

Im just concerned that if I tried to use any taller strut assy, that you cant adjust out the positive camber due to limitiations in the lateral links/control arms/tie rod extension.
I was at the limit of my comfort when I was forced to make an extension for the steering column CV-joint going into the rack since I lowered the subframe 2".
Modifying other components reliably will prove to be more of a headache.

Id say that the car doesn't have enough power with these tires, but that's going through some pretty severe sand going uphill [I would need nitrous in 2nd gear to keep wheel speeds high enough].
Otherwise, as long as you're moving, 1st gear gradeability is OK with 28" tires.

You don't necessarily need a longer strut to get increased travel though. Front strut has a 13" shaft IIRC but only 6.25" or travel or something like that. An inverted rally setup will get more travel out of the same overall length. Additionally, there is room to move the top of the strut towers up probably close to an inch without hitting the hood if you were to invert the hardware and had a relatively low profile strut shaft.

Also only static camber would suffer, you will gain massive camber on compression

Removed my air filter today to find a hole melted through the filter and metal covering the filter.. learned my lesson don't put an over sized filter on. Just ordered an ugly little mushroom that should serve this purpose properly. Also hitting the junkyard in search of a new tps sensor since my throttle is all over the place.

Drove my car and it ran amazingly today but it was short lived. The moment I shut her down and started her up all I got was hesitant throttle and the a surge of random power. Can't wait to trace this problem down hopefully the tps does it.

Installed new spark plug cables(not oem sadly)and some ngk copper spark plugs to my wagon.

Also replaced my wife's valve cover gasket on her Pontiac vibe gt. Along with new spark plugs and an oil change. Basically had almost no oil left there was oil in the spark plugs and seeped all over the motor and under carriage.

Going to power wash the motor and undercarriage when I get a chance and begin prep for winter. Which means I'll be ordering 2 sets of tires one set of snow and one set all seasons since her car has a set of sport tires .

Last week, took a ~600mile round trip adventure from Indianapolis, IN to Detroit, MI in my Astra for some random parts.

Got a set of 2 season old Ice-X snow tires on factory alloys.
A full set of OEM 'all weather' floor mats in excellent shape.
    OEM rubber trunk liner
Eonon Android stereo that fits like factory and talks to the CANBUS like the original.
Opel Astra H grill and hatch emblem.

Also hit TheHenryFord complex Saturday with admission being part of the deal on the above goodies.

Car made the trip no problem.
The seats are NOT comfortable at all for a ~5hr drive...

    Yesterday, I changed the oil.
Pretty much right at 5k miles on my first oil change. Used Rotilla to clean it out and it was still not terribly mucked up after the 5k miles.
Put in Mobile 1 5w30 this time.
It's ridiculous how much oil filters for these are. They cost more than a standard filter but are essentially just the paper guts from a normal one. No metal shell or anything. A lot less manufacturing and materials involved...

Service manual calls for 10K mile oil changes on this thing. 5K with good oil, ok. Not going to go 10k though.

I don't think you are dumb, i see you stabbed a hole in it. Try skewering it with the tool at an angle, you might get more twist out of it then.
It's not my fault, blame the radiation.

Harbor Freight sells vice grip style oil filter clamps. Maybe pick a set of those up.

Also since you punched a thin hole through there already, try knocking a large 1/2" extension through. That wont tear the filter as easily when you try to turn it loose.

I certainly had to poke a hole in a few filters and jam something through to get them off.

One time, I had one of those oil filter wrench things that go over the end of the filter like a socket and ended up twisting the housing and crushing the bumps it grips on the filter trying to get it off... (VERY stuck) THAT was fun...

Got some more of the car put together. had to stop though.

I was using my brother in law's garage. It started raining and he can't let his precious van get wet, so i had to put the car back outside and put his van away.

Finished the car last night. Well, mostly. It needs trans fluid, coolant, and the bolts that hold the Tam to the frame.

It seems i have lost them somewhere.

But i drove it out of the garage.
