It is a theft hazard since the bezel is so easy to remove but I park my car in the garage at night so its no biggie. The tablet is removable, just pull the bezel off and take it out from behind. My safety hazard button still there behind the tablet, so if i really need to use it I still can. And sorry steve I have no pictures of the install.

Ahh okay, can you tell is what you used exactly to hook it up? Did you wire it in directly or use the pogo pins with a dock or something?

Pogo pins? dock? that sounds complicated LOL

What I did was simple. I bought a cigarette lighter plug off ebay. Tap that into the harness of the existing plug behind the center console. Regular Usb charger with a car plug and tucked all of that under the center console. the switch is also off ebay. If you notice your phone or tablet will turn on everytime you plug in power or disconnect power. So that's what the switch does, everytime you press the switch it cuts the power charging the tablet and the tablet turns on. You can mount that switch anywhere if you want to keep your safety hazard button. I just like it better there. total cost is about 15 bucks. Cheap and simple. Hope that helps

That helps a bit, I am a noob to wiring and stuff but its doesn't sound terribly difficult.

So yesterday I received a Nexus 7 32gb 2012 that I ordered off ebay, knowing that it had a broken micro-usb port and the seller couldn't charge it to see if it worked. So first thing I did when I got it was open up the back, and sure enough the battery cable had been removed off the mobo. So I finally have a Nexus 7 for my car install! Just curious if anyone has pointers in actually securing it behind the bezel, I have a case on the way to help make it a dynamic install (tablet can be easily removed).

This seems like a terrible terrible terrible idea.

When I am king of the world, I will ban capacitive touch devices integrated in cars.

Nothing touch screen is ever good for a car. It may looks awesome but it's just fucking dangerous. Center console controls need to be in every car.

I'm OK with it in certain applications... entertainment not being one of them... I could see value to having something in there for megasquirt monitoring though.

I had my avh wired to accept HP tuners. Neat but too small to monitor everything I do.
    Plus it kills the music.
