As of this exact moment in time i am in.

I will Hump away on the Datsun to try to have it ready in time to go. Otherwise i will have to rent a car, or ride along with someone else.

Can anyone give an estimate on cabin rental?

Renting a car for a couple hundred if yours isn't perfect isn't a bad way to go. I've done it a couple times. The trade off for not going super fast is AC and a brand new car that isn't your problem.

If you haven't done road course events this isn't the place to figure out how fast you can go anyways

that's why i want to get the Datsun sorted out now incase i run into problems i can deal with them without rushing to have the car ready.

    It needs:
    rust repair
    engine rebuild
    clutch/flywheel
    suspension
    brakes.

I have no intention of racing this course, just a leisurely drive and some good times with people.

Brandon has made it apparent he would like to go. Which would also pull me into the mix to make sure he stays leashed.

Guess I need to make some calls this week.

I'll be going to Texas with AJ to float the Frio during the weekend of the 22nd. Let me know if you guys change your plans. Otherwise I might plan some other adventures to take Brandon on during a different weekend.

    Well, crap.

Is anyone going that wants to go to the Homecoming that may or may not be happening? There hasn't been an update since January 19th on the public forums and I sent a request to join the group weeks ago and it got cancelled or something since the "request to join" button was active again. TBH, I'm thinking it is just not going to happen. Again, if it does, I am close enough to make both events, so it doesn't affect me either way, aside from being sad about the lack of overall Saturn nation group support. But I guess that is to be expected, since the group heading this up is Ecotec Nation, not Saturn (anything). blah blah blah

With that said, is 9/21- 9/25 set in stone on anybody's calendar? Seems like I've seen more people say they can't come already than those that said they could (not unusual, but still). I can't do the weekend after, but I could do the weekend before. Should we consider moving this to 9/14-9/18 instead? Would that help more people than it hurts?

If there's someone that wants to share a spot I'm down for either weekend. Further back is honestly better though. I'm doing the IBJJF World Championships in Vegas in August so I'm not sure I'll actually be in a spot to attend but I'm willing/able to throw down on deposit and pay my spot in advance either way.

Maybe we should start two lists of who could attend when and the bigger list by a certain date will be the winner?

    I'm down for either weekend.

The later date works best for me as well.

I'm flexible but I'm hoping to choose my vacation time this year when the temperatures start to cool down. My wife and I are driving to Georgia to visit some friends. So I was going to try and hit the dragon on the way down or on the way back.

I'll make next year for sure. Between an in-op car and my traditional river trip, this tear didn't work for me lol.

We talked about that before picking the September weekend. October can be noticeably cooler (colder even). The leaves start to change above 4,000 ft (Clingmans Dome, Parkway, Cherohala Skyway) in early October, and in mid October for lower elevations. This means tourists, grandmas, families with small kids, and people who stop and get out of their cars to look at bear cubs. Changing leaves --> falling leaves --> wet leaves on the roads. This can be just as dangerous as gravel in a turn. We all know that most of us drive on the edge and don't need any help messing up, myself included (:/).

Do you guys usually drive your turds down or trailer? 2000 miles round trip would be more comfortable in the Jeep...I'd grab a uhaul job.
