I have been using map daddy sensors for years. The original map sensor was noisy until i upgraded to the map daddy.
Make sure you clean the solder flux residue when you are done.

I'm not sure I bought it new/used. I have only opened it to make sure the parts were there. I think there is a bag missing. Other than that I have just started reading the manual. So I'm not even sure what is what. I'm not diving in head first. I know a lot of you have built or have messed with megasquirt and trying to get as many helpful hints and tips as I can before I start

No software filter that im aware of but i have never seen big spikes like you mention in the data logs.
