    The flaggin' waggon

So basically this is gonna be my new escort/flagging car. We're pulling modular homes. Usually from either champion or bonevilla here in Nebraska.

Currently I am using the wife's 04 Monte Carlo ss, with the 3800 engine. Got an all time best of 34.5 mpg' with it following behind the house.

So now my wagon i picked up is a 97 single cam, 5 speed with cruise and ac. Just rolled over 170k. It runs pretty good. I've put a little over 2k miles on it now and has burned about 1/2 quart of oil.

We can go 400+ miles on a job so I need this wagon to be reliable. And I'm not exactly flowing the money these days so this may take a while to get everything I want done, done.

    Plans I have so far.

    Drive train:
    Mounts
    PVC valve
    Oil catch can
And pretty much just check everything over
    Update the shifter bushings.
Have a set of 15" ion wheels that I'll need to get tires for.

    Suspension:
    Tie rods and ends
    Lower control arms
Rear sl2 subframe swap from my 96 parts car.
some kyb struts. ( front right one's makin noise)
And possibly/maybe some H&R or eibach springs. If I can swing it when the time comes.

    Sound:
    I have
    2 12" premier subs audioque(soudqube) 2200 watt amp.
Kinetic 2200 battery for the trunk.
    220amp battery isolator.
    Want to get
    A new head unit
    some speakers and amp.
    Dbeletric high output alt.
    And more 1/0g wire.

    Interior:
    Not much.
Just fix the headliner and other odds and ends.
mount my cb radio on the dash.

    Body:
    Paint the bumpers white.
May do the black uprights behind the rear door too as the clear is pealing there.
Front bull/push gaurd to mount some lights and a height pole.
Roof basket to mount CB antenna, flashing amber light, couple of flags, and possibly spare tire and a rotopax.

That's pretty much the jist of it. Hopefully I can get most of it done before next winter. At least that's the goal.

I've already begun on the front bumper. Have it all tacked together. Just have to pull it off an finish welding it. Thinking about just pulling the bumper covers off an go ahead and paint them up.

    What I started with.

That's pretty much where I'm at. Pretty excited to see how it'll turn out.

Very cool. It's good to see the cars get used and appreciated for what they are.

SW2 bumpers will swap right on, SL2 will be the same for front. If you can find one in your color. I'll keep my eye out, as I'm in Omaha.
It's not my fault, blame the radiation.

Well, got the push guard welded. And decided to go ahead and paint the front bumper cover, that way I won't have to pull it off again to do it. Plus I think we have some leftover paint on the shelf that should match..
Anyone know what the white paint is called for these? Can't seem to find the paint code on this. I have arctic white that's suppose to be gm from 91-200?..

Decided to just use some rubberized undercoating on the push bar since it was also just sittin on the shelf.lol

The paint code is on the service parts identification sticker located on the spare tire cover at the rear of the car. On the sticker itself it is located on the bottom left as highlighted in this photo.

Here is a chart that provides code conversion to various paint manufactures codes. Double check the code on your SPID sticker as I pulled this of a random internet site. Here is the link to the site I pulled this from

Got everything on today. Checked the paint codes and they didn't match.(figures). But does look pretty close. Maybe a touch bluer'.lol it don't matter. Did it with all leftover materials on the shelf. Didn't cost me anything to make, or paint. Just my time. Turned out better than I thought it would.. Ordered a 15" lightbar to go on it now tho. Says it'll be here by feb 17.

That was the inspiration when I started the idea. Wanted it for lights, and a spot for a height pole. But thought the ends looked better on there, so I kept them.

Thanks. I looked for months before I found this one. Had to drive about 250 miles to get it. It was out east of kc.

Got the light bar mounted tonight. Just need to finish the wiring.

Got it wired today. Not bad for less than 20$.

And I finally think I have enough money to get some tires for them 15" ion wheels.
Leaning more towards the 195/65 vs the 195/60. Still not quite sure. Guess I'll see what they have when I go in.
