    Rod bearings for racing

I just got a 1998 SL2 DOHC auto with a little over 81,000 miles on it. I plan on turning it into a race car for oval racing and was curious about the bearings in the motor. I'll be turning around 5,000-5,500 rpms in the straights. Was thinking about going ahead and getting new bearings to kind of "freshen it up" to take the wear and tear it will be going through. My question is, are the regular (new) stock bearings ok for this? Is there such thing as hardened steel or racing bearings available? Also, how many bearings total are there? Just bottom rod bearings? Thanks!

As long as you got oil flow you'll be fine w/ stock bearings. main thing is preventing oil slosh and running quality oil.

I checked on advance auto parts and they come in a set of 8. Is that all it needs for the bottom bearings? For the top part of the motor, is it just caps on the cams and not bearings?
