    I love it.

The article has a pretty negative view of the LL0, when in fact it has done quite well in crapcan racing. If anything, in a typical Saturn build, I'd say the chassis is the weak point (wheel bearings).

I want to know more about the trans/bellhousing.

Saturn engines run poorly for longer than most engines run.

    Fucking lulz.

Just for funzies, I thought up something.

Let's say of the 2.4 million S-series Saturn's produced, for arguments sake, half of them burned 1 quart of oil every 500miles starting around 100k miles up until they died around 200-250k miles.

Saturn's would have burned almost 60 million gallons of oil. Almost 6 times what the Exxon Valdez spilled in the ocean.

I actually remember running into that site years ago trying to dig up some way of stuffing a LL0 into my Samurai. Thought provoking for sure

4600 Saturn 1.9, aluminum SOHC & DOHC. Too rough for a bus. Light. Great for sandrail but computerized. 85 to 124 HP. WEIGHT: 240 lbs.; LENGTH:19"; HEIGHT: 17"

too too rough for a bus. Lol. Never consider a vw bus as a smooth running vehicle.

Too rough? What's that even mean? A DOHC is plenty smooth, a lot of that has to do with mounts.

I guess the factory Porsche engines were terrible? I know the 914 wasn't exactly their flagship but wow lol.

Do the turd mills suck in lemons? Seeing the lack of maintenance hell they usually go through and all. Do they just not like the sustained hard running?

I've heard they like to overheat, seems to be what kills them the most.

I haven't heard of overheating issues in stock ish form. With a stock radiator and thermostat, they will run fine on the track all day at 10/10ths. Hell, ours ran great for 14 hours with a blown headgasket. Wheel bearings seem to be the biggest issue I've heard of.

They actually have pretty good bones for lemons: http://jalopnik.com/5450420/results-...le-500-beaters

A DOHC turd motor still makes more power than the most powerful 914 motor (109hp)

i wont say my views could use some broadening and i do appreciate other things. I focus a lot on HP and i think right now it comes from my want to make more in my car now that i have the handling 90% of where i want it. dont get me wrong though id rather enjoy a nice road with turns and have a good time more than run 12 seconds down a straight and then go again.
