The BFGs like to grab onto inconsistencies in the road and pull the car around. This is especially apparent when one front tire hits snow and the other is on dry pavement.
I am wondering if the increased inputs caused by the tires can be deadened out by increasing the assist from the power steering.

    Any thoughts?

Reading on pirate4x4.com I see that some guys can shim the bypass valve spring in order to raise the pressure at which it opens up. Depending on how our pumps are designed, Im wondering if that is feasible. Need to go to the junk yard and open one up. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/toyot...ring-pump.html

or do the opposite of this, removing shims: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3UwfXgYoh8

Its not 'the BFGs', its your royally fucked scrub radius that's doing it. A lot of things will help, but not much is going to correct what that much change from the factory geometry.

The right(ish) way to fix it would be to take yourself some longer control arms & halfshafts, get longer tie rods, and move your upper strut mount outboard a bit, then run a lower offset wheel. What offset are those anyway?

Also our PS is a variable assist system. You may not need to fuck with the bypass valve, you might just need to mess with the signal going to the pump.

The geometry hasnt changed since the struts, subframes, and steering rack have all been spaced down. Id have to check but I think its 5” offset.

Are you referring to the EVO variable assist that the DOHCs have?

Yeah. Forgot your car started as a SOHC.

    5" backspacing? or 5" offset?

Either way, your geometry changed in 2 key ways: First, your wheel/tire is taller so that effective changes your scrub radius. Second (and much more significant) your wheel offset changes your scrub radius.

Ahhhhh. Need to read more about suspension geometry [Feel like I've said that many times before]

They are 8" wheels with 5" of backspacing. I assumed backspacing was the opposite of offset.

and at a quick glance it seems that I will have caused some serious Toe Out on acceleration which explains why its just all over the place at full throttle.
This also explains my torque steer.
