    Some suspension questions

    1) Guys who lower your car 2+ inches, how are you NOT on the bumpstops?
    2) Where does the stock suspension sit in relation to travel limits? I.E. how much bump vs. droop?
    3) Anyone know the number of coils on the stock springs?

I cut 1.5 coils off the stock springs, and then welded them to the lower spring cup.

I had run the math and iirc it was around 30 lb/in increase per coil on the front, and 25is in the rear. The rear has one more coil than the front. Ride quality didn't change.

The stock springs have no dead coils you can trim. The first half a coil is the only "dead" coil.

The stock springs sit just above half suspension stroke. Probably 40 percent compressed.

One of the steps for installing H&Rs or Sprints was to cut the bumpstop in half.

Yeah, I have H&Rs minus one coil. I have barely any bumpstop, but I'm hitting it all the time. Rough math with the strut out tells me the bumpstop needs to be at least 1/2 height to have any effect before coil-bind.

I wonder if the 2" drop springs just have a lot less coils.

Its so Stupid how 80-90s cars ride so high. I'm on coils dropped pretty far from stock... and it looks nearly stock still.
It's not my fault, blame the radiation.

You mean they have large fender gaps? They certainly don't ride high. Even at stock height, an S Series roofline and seating position height are lower than most (all?) modern competitors. And I'm talking about the 'tall' 2nd/3rd gens.

1g coupe is 50.6", which is shorter than most sports cars even.

Yea, that would be more accurate. The center of the wheels are way lower in relation to the body/wheelarch than modern cars.
