Do you mean you removed the O2 sensor? It has one wire going to it. The EGR is on the head, by the intake manifold.
If You removed the O2 sensor, you're going to have a bad time.
Hi,
When I put a header exhaust manifold on my 2002 SL2, I removed the EGR sensor as there was no place for it on the new manifold. Yes, I am aware this may cause additional wear to my exhaust valves. My car is now throwing the SES light because of the missing EGR signal. How can I fool the PCM into thinking the EGR sensor/signal is operating normally? Thank you in advance for any advice!

I think you may be referring to the secondary air injection system. Are you trying to describe this below?:

Whoops! Thank you for the replies ZombieSatty and AlexofNaz. You are both pretty smart guys and both correct. It was the secondary air injection system that I deleted. The O2 sensor is in place and working, and I'm in good shape right now. Thanks for jumping in and trying to help me, even though I was off base.
On an unrelated note, does anyone know where I can buy a pair of those JG performance cams for a 1.9L DOHC?
Thank you!
If youre getting the Secondary Air Injection code and need to get rid of it for inspection, you'll have to source an ECU from a vehicle without the Secondary Air Injection.
Thanks, that's a very clever idea, but I'm in Florida, so, no inspections to worry about.
Then you're all set. The secondary air injection only runs after start up to introduce more oxygen into the exhaust to warm the catalyst up faster.
Its purely an emissions device, it will not affect performance or durability in any way by removing it.
Great! Thanks for explaining that, you saved me some research on the subject. So, I should just live with that error code then?
After removing the air injection thing make sure the vac line that goes from the number 1 runner to the old solenoid control valve is blocked off. If you get a vac leak from that line missing or it being unplugged you will get a misfire on the #1 cylinder.
