Wierd occurance after every cold start

Hi all. About two months ago I started noticing my 2001 SL2 5 speed will act like I have slammed on the brakes for a split second within driving the first 100 yards or so. This only happens on a cold engine start, after being warmed up, I can shut it off to run into the library to grab my next hold, or pump some gas, and this doesn't happen. A couple months ago, this was a very seldom occurrence (that I noticed) but this past two weeks, it is every time, every single cold start, and it only happens once then it's fine no matter how far I drive.
It happens whether or not i'm shifting, driving in 1st 2nd 3rd ... Miles on car are 168.xxx all original as far as I know.
I've tried letting it warm up before driving and it still happens. The first couple times this happened it did throw me forward a bit, I wasn't expecting it.

I have tried "spirited" acceleration and it could be all in my head, but I would swear I feel the car hesitate a split second, otherwise not noticeable to speak of.

I have no codes, no dash lights, all systems normal

Does anyone have any ideas on what I should check, or look at?

Sounds like it might be a bad throttle position sensor? Not sure. Others might have ideas.

Hmm . TPS, that's a thought, but it runs/drives normally after that initial occurrence. It has progressed from occurring seldom to every cold start now. I'll check tonight, but so far no codes have been thrown.

Is the car locking up the brakes on the first aplly?
Can you eleborate more? Is the brake pedal stiff and the brakes loose so you are over appling the pedal.?

No S.Bretz, I'm not applying the brakes, the car acts like I have slammed on the brakes for a quick second. My brake system is all normal.

Is it actually the brakes applying (booster going nuts?), or is the motor trying to die/struggling to run?

    Clutch disc sticking?

Is the engine cutting out in 1st or 2nd gear? That would cause some serious deceleration.

Because you say it is very brief, my thought goes to a spark ignition fault or fuel injection glitch. (Coils, wiring /connectors, ECU)

I suppose the fuel pump could have a problem too but I donít know how fast the pressure can drop down and recover - or can it be a sticky fuel pressure regulator?

Another thought is that the EGR valve is possibly sticking . It normally opens progressively at part throttle and closes at WOT. If suddenly you get too much EGR that causes hesitation. Briefly disable EGR to see if the driveabilty improves.

Would it surprise anyone to know this problem all but disappeared since it got warm out? I haven't done any troubleshooting, just waited to see if the problem would get worse, but it never did. I have daily driven this to boot.

This morning I let the car run for ~2 minutes, and slowly accelerated and this issue did not occur.

If could be running too rich from a bad CTS and/or IAT reading causing it to flood, or nearly flood the cylinders when you floor it.
