    Mushroom Filter - Brand

I'd like to use a mushroom filter on the turbo inlet.
Anyone have a brand suggestion for one of these?
I'm trying to find Sam's recommendation for a brand, but can't locate it.

Question: Is the filter area equal to or more than factory? less than will be of no benefit

Question: Is this to provide cooler air into the intake?

not sure what your goal is.

I dont have a lot of space from the inlet of the turbo to the intercooler piping, so Id like to get a more compact filter than the conventional AEM/K&N cone filter. Also I feel like I've seen several of those start to "cave in" in some pics of turbo cars

I feel like the abundance of michigan sand would get right past that. I may just put an elbow on it and then place a filter down low to pull in cooler air.

I use an HKS. It has a nice velocity stack shape under the filter that helps improve airflow into the intake pipe.

Thanks Sam. Are these able to be cleaned? I'm imagining that these filters would be similar to those on a dirt bike that can be taken out and cleaned in solvent after they become dirty.

I guess you could use water to clean them if you want. They are not oiled so water should work. The last couple of times i replaced the element i got them from amazon. The elements are pretty cheap..$10-$15.

I never ran a filter on my turd or the Datsun. I did have a screen in the Datsun, I used an old metal speaker grill and a small block Chevy header collector, welded the speaker grill in the collector and slapped the collector on the front of the turbo like a velocity stack.

Stupid question, do you need another coupler to mount the HKS to the turbo or is the HKS inlet rubber similar to a cone filter?
