    Engine/Trannie Mount Recommended Brands SC2

I need to replace all of the engine and transmission mounts on both of my SC2s.

What are the best OEM replacement brands for mounts?

What brands should be avoided at all costs?

Design matters as well. You will want one that copied the last design instead of the "frowny face"

What is this “frowny face” you speak of?

    How do I recognize it?

    What is the “last design”?

Frowny on the left. What you want is on the right.

Would it be safe to assume that all the threads I've read about this or that brand of mount failing after a few years would actually be talking about the frowny face mounts?

Should I be ignoring brand and just looking at the specific mount configuration?

In person inspection reveals that both Duralast and Anchor are frowny faces.

you want the later version of the tam mount, for dog bones there have been several designs, in your other thread asking about the poly inserts they used to be available from summit racing but I have no idea on the part number of if they are still around. Search on here and you might find it. I use the lifetime warranty engine and transmission mounts from advanced or aurotzone, every few years swap them all out with fresh ones for free. The one thing that I will do on track cars and autocross cars is to fill all the gaps in the rubber with 3M Window Weld. It will end up with a mount with very little give and is much cheaper than Poly mounts. The down side is that the car will vibrate heavily, you don't want this in your only daily driver unless you are driving a completely gutted car with a 6 puck unsprung clutch, then it would fit in fine with all the other noise and vibration.

that is the technically correct design, just the OEM rubber material used was better at both motion control and absorbing vibration

they're almost extinct now. we just have to deal with it unless someone is interested in making a mount that replicates OEM performance. perhaps one of the hydraulic mounts from later cars can be adapted

I have good info on the solid right side top mount now.

The solid mounts are manufactured by the company formerly known as DEA, post acquisition called Marmon Ride Control.

Marmon "acquired the assets of DEA in 2016". Which in bizniss speak means DEA was for all intents and purposes no longer a going concern, aka out of business or as good as.

They have two part numbers for the right hand mount:

A2827 : aka Mr. Frowny Face

    and

A2827HD, which is the solid mount.
