    Brand New Custom Coilovers Anyone?

So I spoke to someone at SEMA this year. They make coil overs and I've spoken to them about make some for our s-series. He told me they would normally go for $979. That's a bit cheaper than AMR. The company is called Yellow Speed. They are in El Paso, TX. I may be able to get the price lower on a group buy. Right now they have to be created so I'm looking for someone with an s series that wouldnt mind going to their shop so they can get measurements. I'm in Las Vegas so it's not really an option for me. If there's enough interest I can speak to them about a lower group buy price...

    Isn't SEMA a convention/show?

What is the company that would make the coilovers?

    Looks like a solid idea.

When they give a price, is that for a single coilover?

Nope the 979 is for all 4 guy. Full set. Itll suck when they get made cuz wont have any cash for a few months with the new house and all. So I met them at SEMA and loved their product and quality. So at least the members of the board can benefit from this until I get mines...

Best I can say is good luck, worked a similar deal with BC Racing for a little less money 5 years ago but no one wanted to pay that much when there were raceland ones available.

First you'd need to establish enough of a base to justify the product, then keep the group patient enough to wait until it happens.

I'd be 100% interested in a set and I'm not even a Saturn owner anymore lol

I just talked to Donald at Yellow Speed Racing. This is what he told me:

If we can get 5 orders of front and back they can get the price, shipped, down from $979 to around $850 a set for their Dynamic Pro Sport Coilovers.

This is what they need from us to make it possible:

    Either
A- They need a car in their shop with factory struts to measure.
    or
B - They need a factory front and a factory back strut to work off of.

It would be best to have a car so they can check fitment, etc.

There is no fee for the measurement. But whoever sends the struts would be responsible for shipping it both ways (if they want the old ones back)

Alternatively, we could look for a similar shop, in an area where we have an interested member, then we could have more assurance of getting proper fitment since they will have an actual car to work off of. I have two SC2s and could easily leave one at a shop for a week or two while they get it all correct.

Were you aware that the Subaru WRX coilovers are already practically a bolt-on application?

Yes. But "practically" can also be read as "not".

Since I don't have the tools or the inclination to modify metal parts, I would rather just get them ready to mount out of the box. Also, the Raceland CO's all the way extended have a 2 inch drop. Which means you can never raise your suspension above that.

My current setup has about a 2 inch drop and I kind of hate it. I have to be super careful pulling into my driveway, or driving over speed bumps. And any kind of distance driving puts extra strain on my eyes since the road is apparently moving past me much faster than it would if the car were higher. Some adjustability would be nice.

If $850 is too rich, there's nothing stopping us from calling around to get a better price. Plus once a shop has the measurements for actual bolt on coilovers, then anyone could order them.

Ok fingers crossed everyone! I just got a guy with an S-Series in El Paso to agree to take his car in to get it measured.

Provided he follows through, then we will have custom made, fully functional, bolt on out of the box coilovers for our cars.

I'm paying him $50. So he'll probably follow through. :-)

We need to get five orders to get the price to $850

If there is enough interest, things can be made again. Post up in the thread if you are in.
