    Modify for aero?

Just curious, but does anybody here mod their car for better aero? My focus (on the exterior of my car) is to reduce drag, but some people mod to reduce lift or increase downforce...

I did some research on this. Wheels create quite a lot of drag. Tesla put specially designed low drag wheels on their model 3 that improved overall efficiency by 10%. I briefly toyed with the idea of putting a set on my sc2. But the cost would be prohibitive and even with modifications they might not even fit. They’re also uaf.

You could look for ways to reduce back drag behind the mirrors and rear of the car.

Here are some slides on vehicle aerodynamics that I just found.

I started with a grille block and annular discs screwed on top of the factory wheel covers, and now have a lawn edging air dam, rear fender skirts, and a rear spoiler similar to what us sometimes run on land speed record cars... planning a mirror delete at some point and maybe a diffuser after I get my exhaust done...

My cars's PO screwed the license plate directly on to the front bumper. It just hangs there. So I started thinking about license plate frames. Which led me to the idea of a curved license plate frame.

I did some searching and it turns out that there is such a thing, but only for Corvettes. Which seems like a good place for one since they can go fast. But it would look nice on an SC2. And when it comes to Saturn aerodynamics, looks is the most important thing :-)

It would require some modification to work on our car. They run about $35 on eBay and $55 new.

Would look good on a SC, or maybe an Ion coupe... the sedan bumper is pretty round for that to look good IMO

for a front plate, just get this style: https://www.autoattire.com/license-p...BoCmjYQAvD_BwE

It will conform to bumper shape and your plate will too. And its the least offensive front plate mount.

I’m just glad I’m not required to run a front plate lol...

Though I seen a front plate that moved as an articulated grille block, adjustable for different driving conditions...
