New Struts - New Squeaks
I just replaced all four of the crappy ebay lowering struts that came on my SC2 with new Gabriel Ultra Readmounts (quick struts).
All was good for about a week, then the squeaking in the back started. It sounds like hardcore rodent porn back there.
I cleaned the mount surfaces before installation.
Other possible contributing factors:
All the old rubber parts are rotten and need replacement. ( I have the poly kit, still in the box) The crappy ebay sway bar that the PO put on is still there. Not entirely certain that all the rest of the components are stock.
What do y'all think it might be?
Here are some pictures from installation day:

This piece didn't quite fit into the Gabriel strut. I think it may have come with the Crap-struts since they had no lower lip for it to hit. I filed the bottom of it so it would fit.

If you search on Saturnfans you would see many complaints about these quick strut replacements being squeaky and annoying. That's just how they are.

So it seems.
There must be a reason. One person suggested improper bearing lubrication at the factory.
The crappy eBay struts didn't squeak. Sound like a brick hitting my undercarriage every time I went over a pebble, yes. Squeak no.
There has to be a solution.Just gotta find it.
After reading around the interwebs, it seems like the solution is "to just grease it"
Here be some links!

And my personal favorite, due to the easy to understand diagram:

are those progress sport springs?

Pretty sure those springs were crap painted to look like Progress springs. They performed much better in the dumpster than they ever did on my car.

those look like progress springs
2001 red Sc2m R.I.P.
1998 gold Sc2m (Goldylocks) Ms2 turbo construction
1995 white Sc1.5m N/A (Becky) R.I.P.
1999 navy blue Outback 2.5m (un named) DD
Yeah i doubt anyone would take the time to paint springs the same as progress.
FYI you threw away damn good springs
I was never going to use those springs again. And since I have neither the tools or the inclination to disassemble struts, and I seriously doubt anyone is going to pay to have four worn out struts shipped to them just to salvage an abused set of springs, on the speculation that they *might* be Progress springs, what I threw away was junk that would have taken up space in my garage.
