    Manual trans assembly - diff bearing clearance from casing?

    anyone have to set the diff clearance from casing? getting ready to assemble my trans with the Mfactory. everything's ready i just need to order the loctite 515.

    i measured the clearance without the gasket sealer and its .018 with the retaining ring, the clearance ring is .059" so i need an .080" ring, i guess? I can hand lap it to fit

    I didn’t do anything like that.... everything falls into place one way (through both upper C clips) the differential “appears” to ride on the case but as you install the gears and tie everything in things space themselves

    I asked a tech many years ago about the shims for the diff. He said they never used them and just slapped them together...so that is how I did it ever since and never had any issues.

    i wonder if i could tack weld to build up the shim and file it to fit or something. do you have any extra shims? i need 1.6 mm

    im just deebly goncerned that it will fail somehow.

    Just let it self clearance. Change the fluid 50mi later. Profit?
