    Valve Spring replacements

    So...
I'm trying to overhaul my 3rd Gen SL2 engine and I can't find a few things that I would like to purchase new for piece of mind. I also plan on putting a turbo on when I've finished with the engine and have it running nicely again. The problem is, I can't find valve springs. The old ones are not bad, but I'm sure I need to have stiffer springs for the turbo. Can I use springs from a different engine?

Are you planning on keeping the low flowing third gen head or going to the better flowing 92-98 head?

Sticking with what I've got. I don't have a lot of money to spend on changing parts out and I already have the timing kit for the 3rd gen head.

Weren't the ecotec springs something that were compatible with the 3rd gen heads?

That's what I was wondering. If I can use the ecotech springs, than I will order those.

Can't remember if the springs can be exchanged, or if it was the lifters or both that could be exchanged between the third gen heads and the ecotec ones.

If you plan to stick with the 6500 rpm redline then the stock springs will be fine.

I cannot comment on the interchangeability of the ecotec to 3rd gen head. Sorry I can't be of much help there. As long at they are the same diameter so that the fit on the perches correctly then should be okay (assuming they are about the same height).

I did the redline exhaust valves. they needed a lot of modding to get them to fit.
